The high alpine desert has a special appeal to me. There is an otherworldly feeling evoked by the stark and barren landscape. Miles from anywhere, the unforgiving environment is seemingly devoid of life.
However, if one closely observes the terrain, the clues are readily available. Elusive as they may seem, deer are prevalent as are jackrabbits, coyotes, mountain lions, and pronghorns to name a few species. The landscape is teeming with life.
The expansive terrain is blessed with incredible light. The sky is constantly changing, a kaleidoscope of chiaroscuro.
